We're Bringing the Very Green Grocery to Crewe!

The Very Green Grocery, the community grocery that's become such a loved part of life in Winsford and Northwich, is coming to Crewe SOON.

What is the Very Green Grocery?

If you haven't heard of us yet, let us introduce ourselves. We're all about making affordable food accessible to everyone in Crewe while tackling food waste at the same time. We rescue perfectly good food from local supermarkets that would otherwise go to waste, and we make it available to our community at prices that won't break the bank.

Everyone is welcome

No referrals needed and EVERYONE IS WELCOME. Whether you're looking to save a bit of money on your shopping this week, you can't stand seeing good food go to waste, you want to shop more environmentally friendly, you're curious about what we offer, or you simply want to support what we do - our doors are open to you.

We're planning to open every Friday from 10am to 2pm at The ReUse Warehouse, Victoria Square, Crewe, CW1 2PU.

We need your help to make this happen

To get this community grocery up and running in Crewe, we're looking for people who want to get involved in a couple of different ways.

Help out in the Grocery

Our grocery team members are the heart of what we do. If you can spare some time on Fridays, we'd love to have you. You'd be greeting customers, helping stock our shelves, and on shop days, keeping an eye on our fridges, freezers, and fresh produce.

Be a collector

Can't make Fridays work? That's absolutely fine. We collect food from supermarkets throughout the week, and if you're already doing your weekly shop and wouldn't mind popping to a local supermarket when they have excess stock to bring back to us, that would be brilliant. It's flexible, it fits around you, and every collection helps.

What you get

Everyone who helps out with us gets to shop at a reduced rate, and you get to shop before we open to the public. You also get discounts in store on things like furniture, bicycles and new items. If you decide to be a collector for us, you also get your fuel paid back!

Why Crewe needs this

Food waste is a massive problem, and at the same time, many families are struggling with the cost of living. Very Green Grocery tackles both. We've seen first hand in Winsford and Northwich how much of a difference a community grocery can make. People save money, good food doesn't go to waste, and there is a real sense of community that builds around it.

We want to bring that to Crewe.
