About the Scheme

Our Buddy & Befriending Scheme connects individuals who are feeling lonely and/or isolated in our communities throughout Cheshire. Using trained volunteers who offer regular companionship, conversation, and support through meaningful weekly conversation as well as weekly Warm Welcome Groups to encourage the reduction in social isolation.
Funding helps us to fully operate our scheme but essentially it is to ensure that no one feels forgotten or alone. Making that interaction, that connection to improve health and wellbeing.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Volunteer Grant Bid Writer to help secure funding for our Buddy & Befriending Scheme, which supports people who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

This rewarding role would suit a professional, freelance consultant, or retired professional who would like to use their skills to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

As our Volunteer Grant Bid Writer, you will play a key role in sustaining and growing our Buddy & Befriending Scheme by:

•Writing clear, compelling grant applications and funding bids
•Making possible connections and networking to generate interest in our scheme
•Working with our team to capture outcomes, impact, and real-life stories
•Helping to demonstrate how funding directly supports people who are lonely or isolated


About you

What We’re Looking For

•Experience in grant writing, bid writing, fundraising, or proposal development
•Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
•Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
•Professional experience from any sector is welcome
•A passion for social impact and reducing loneliness

Time Commitment

Flexible and negotiable – from a few hours a month to supporting specific funding deadlines.
