Gift aid

Gift aid is a scheme run by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) that means charities like us, can reclaim the tax on your donations at no extra cost to you. Gift Aid adds 25% value to your donations; whether they're bikes, books, chairs etc. So if your donation sells for £10, we will actually receive £12.50.

By checking the box, you enable Changing Lives Together to reclaim tax on any donations made by you to the Charity.

I am a UK taxpayer and I am happy with the terms and conditions. I understand I must have paid an amount of income tax or capital tax gain at leave equivalent of the amount that Changing Lives Together will reclaim through Gift Aid.

CLT is acting as an agent selling goods on your behalf, you are not donating goods but arranging for Changing Lives Together to sell them on your behalf. CLT rate of commission is 1% which we charge for selling the goods on your behalf. Gift Aid can only be claimed on the balance donated after commission and related VAT which will be deducted. CLT will contact you by letter or email to advise you of the net sale proceeds before a claim is submitted, CLT intends to treat this amount as a gift to the charity unless you contact us within 21 days of the date of the letter (or email) to say you want to keep the proceeds. You can cancel this declaration at any time by notifying Changing Lives Together. Goods that cannot be sold will be recycled wherever possible and cannot be returned to the donor, we reserve the right to terminate this agreement at any time. If in the future your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax that all charities reclaim, you can cancel your declaration. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self-Assessment tax return.
